March is Red Cross Month

    

 

On February 27, 2009, President Barack Obama, Honorary Chairman of the American Red Cross, signed a Presidential Proclamation marking March 2009 as "Red Cross Month" encouraging all Americans to support this humanitarian organization. The National Capital Area Supports Local Law Enforcement During a Rescue & Recovery Mission

The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area staff and volunteers offered encouragement, and served warm meals and drinks Thursday, Oct. 23 and Friday, Oct. 24 to hard working police and fire and rescue workers tirelessly searching for Fairfax County police officer 2nd Lt. Frank Stecco.

The National Capital Area Provides Assistance to Patrons in Washington, D.C. on July 4th

The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area staff and volunteers worked together to be available and prepared to assist patrons who visited Washington, D.C. for the July 4th, 2008 celebration. Tents were set-up to provide relief to patrons from the heat and water was on hand to give to those experiencing dehydration.

Shoppers Program

The Red Cross Shoppers Program is grant-funded through Montgomery County, Maryland Department of Health and Human Services. The program is designed to help those who are unable to shop for groceries independently. The Shoppers Program matches Red Cross volunteers with elderly (age 60 or above) residents Montgomery County, Maryland and takes them shopping every week or whenever necessary.
