Celebrating Our Red Cross Volunteers!!!

The American Red Cross appreciates each and every one of our volunteers every day of the year. April is National Volunteer Month and is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities.   In honor of National Volunteer Week, April 18-24, Red Cross is offering a special promotion to volunteers for items purchased on RedCrossStore.org. Through May 15, Red Cross volunteers can take advantage of a 10% savings off their total purchase with promotional code VOLUNTEER2010.

During the month of April we will highlight Red Cross volunteers throughout the National Capital Region. This week we are highlighting Kristen Lloyd.

Kristen has been a volunteer with the Red Cross since 2007.  She currently serves as the Chair of Club Red, a volunteer group for young professionals in their 20s and 30s.  Kristen was one of the founding members of Club Red, and has been going strong ever since!  She actively pursues and organizes volunteer projects for Club Red in her spare time.  Some of the projects she has lead include a social event at a senior living facility, water stations at the Cherry Blossom Race, fundraisers and much more.

Kristen attends New Volunteer Orientations at the Arlington office to promote Club Red.  Additionally, Kristen has served as a mentor for the Arlington Youth Team, a volunteer group for young people ages 12 to 18.  Her co-workers say, "Kristen’s drive and initiative to benefit the Red Cross mission is inspiring, and we are so thankful to have her on our team!"

National Capital Region Board Chair and CEO Linda Mathes appeared on Cox Local Edition talking about volunteering for the American Red Cross.
