The American Red Cross accepts donations of used vehicles. We tow the vehicles for free and you can take the tax deduction. Your used car can help the Red Cross “go the extra mile” through funds received from the sale of your car through this program.

The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region, engages the community to provide services to people throughout the District of Columbia; Fairfax County, Va; Montgomery County, Md; Prince George’s County, Md and the city of Falls Church, Va; Prince William County, Va; Loudoun County, Va; Arlington, Va and Alexandria, VA . The Vehicle Donation Program is an important year-round fundraiser for us and we work with Capital Auto Auction to auction the vehicles for the maximum profit possible to fund our services.

Additionally, vehicle and paperwork can be dropped off at our Silver Spring location at 2020 East West Highway, Silver Spring, MD 20910 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A receipt can be obtained on the spot if requested. If vehicle is dropped off at a time not within business hours, the donor can notify the Vehicle Donation office and put the key and title through the office drop box between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.

If the vehicle is not driveable, it can be towed from its present location. Arrangements can be made through the Vehicle Donation office to have the car picked up within a week.

Sorry, we are unable to pick up vehicles outside of D.C., Maryland or Virginia. If the car you are donating is located outside of these areas, please contact the local Red Cross Chapter nearest your location.
