The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area, engages the community in providing services to people throughout the District of Columbia, Fairfax County, Va, Montgomery County, Md, Prince George’s County, Md and the city of Falls Church, Va and accepts donations of new and used vehicles (towing is free).

The Vehicle Donation Program is an important year-round fundraiser for the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area. The Chapter works with Capital Auto Auction to auction the vehicles for the most possible profit, with proceeds benefitting Chapter programs and services.

Vehicle donors receive an acknowledgement letter and tax receipt within 2 weeks of donation.

Qualifications

Four inflated tires
Set of car keys
Clear title
No Lien on vehicle
Vehicles manufactured before 1992 must be drivable.

Procedure

Fill out the online form below.

Additionally, vehicle and paperwork can be dropped off at our Silver Spring location between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and receipt can be obtained on the spot. If vehicle is dropped off at a time not within business hours, the donor can notify the Vehicle Donation office and put the key and title through the Chapter's drop box between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.

If vehicle is not driveable, it can be towed from its present location. Arrangements can be made through the Vehicle Donation office to have the car picked up within a week.

Sorry, we are unable to pick up vehicles outside of D.C., Maryland or Virginia. If the car you are donating is located outside of these areas, please contact the local Red Cross Chapter nearest your location.
